David Krebs

The focus of David’s practice, although not limited to, is the area of debtor/creditor rights under insolvency and bankruptcy laws.  David has represented debtors and creditors in Chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13 proceedings as well as state court matters.  Not limited to formal proceedings, David assists with out-of-court workouts and wind-downs.  David also provides general business representation to a variety of businesses.

David graduated from DePauw University in 1978, with a BS in philosphy/religion.  He received his JD in 1983 from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.  David is admitted to the bar of the State of Indiana, the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Seventh Circuit.

David began his practice with stints at two firms before joining Hostetler & Kowalik, P.C., in 1990, where he was a partner for over 20 years before overseeing its dissolution in early 2013.  In 2013, David joined the firm that evolved into Hester Baker Krebs LLC.

David has lectured and written extensively for various continuing legal education programs, including ICLEF, on bankruptcy and insolvency issues involving commercial and consumer reorganization or liquidation.

David has regularly been named to the list of Super Lawyers.  A member of the Beta Theta Pi, fraternity, Dave serves as president of the DePauw Beta Student Aid Fund, Inc. the house corporation for the Delta Chapter.  He also has participated as a judge in the District and State levels of the “We the People” competition.  

David and his wife, Rita, reside in Indianapolis with their St. Charles Cavalier Spaniels, Charlie and Annie.  David is an avid Chicago Bears fan which has led to several years of frustration since 1985.
